Many people wear contact lenses but you may not know it. Contacts are nicer than glasses because glasses can get in your way, get dirty faster or can fall off and break. Not everyone can replace their glasses with contacts.
Get an Eye Exam and Contact Lens Prescription
If you're interested, the first thing you should do is go see your eye doctor and find out your options. You should go once a year anyway to get your eyes checked, so this time find out if contacts would work for you.
If you can get them, you'll get a separate prescription for them, which is different than a prescription for glasses. From there, you can order your contacts either through your eye doctor or else shop around either online or make some phone calls.
Astigmatism
You may find out in your eye exam that you have astigmatism:
An optical system with astigmatism is one where rays that propagate in two perpendicular planes have different foci. If an optical system with astigmatism is used to form an image of a cross, the vertical and horizontal lines will be in sharp focus at two different distances. If you do have it, you may still be able to wear contacts that have small weights at the bottom of them, which align the lens correctly in your eye. These are called Toric lenses.
Order Contact Lenses
When you order your contacts, you may have different options like daily disposable lenses, monthly or even 3 month lenses. The more frequently you change them, the better because you get a fresh pair in your eyes, which helps keep your eyes and you healthy. You can easily develop an eye infection if contaminants get into your eye.
If you don't get daily disposable contact lenses, then you'll need to clean your contacts daily. It's not very hard to do and if you do it correctly, they'll work fine. If you take good care of them, they'll take good care of you.
